BIODEGRADABLE WASTE

The HBI technology can be used to transform biodegradable wastes and byproducts into new innovative materials. The technology can directly be applied to residues with high than 30% water content and to mixtures of them.

Tipical residues that can be treated are: anaerobic digestion digestate, sewage slude, agro-food industries residues and food waste.

HOW WE CREATE VALUE

THE HBI PROCESS

HBI has developed and patented an innovative technology which exploits the properties of hot pressurized water. In these conditions water separates the biodegradable residue in its main constituents and organize them in new structures, thus in new raw materials.

The HBI process resembles the natural pathways through which the biodegradable residues are transformed again into natural resources. The HBI process is very fast, becuase it lasts in 3 – 5 hours, and has zero emissions.

INNOVATIVE & RENEWABLE RAW MATERIALS

GREENPEAT

It is a renewable carbonaceous solid material with chemical and physical characteristics similar to those of lignite. Due to its properties can be used for clean heat and power production, as a soil improver, as a filter or as a basic material for the production of activated carbons. These applications depends on the characteristics of the raw material treated by the HBI process.

CHEMICALS

The HBI process can extract renewable molecules and compounds from the raw material treated. Typically these chemicals are solved in the liquid product of the HBI process and can be subsequently separated. Typical chemicals that can be extracted are: macro and micro nutrients, phenols, acetic acid, precursors for the production of herbicides, etc.
